In the world of fashion bloggers, people never want to wear their old pieces. Why? It’s dumbfounding to me and personally, I don’t understand it. I’m on a budget. As a college student, I don’t have thousands of dollars at my disposal every day to write a new post about. Now don’t get me wrong, I know people who will buy things, shoot it, and take it back or they get loans from the brands and have a short time to bring it back. Those are all perfectly explainable reasons, but in the blogging world, some people often turn over clothes like they turn the pages of a magazine.
I love my closet the way it is. I’ve got statement pieces and basics, all of which have come together to create the perfect wardrobe for my style. I love shopping just as much as the next gal. If I had the money, I could and would spend all of my days shopping. I feel like a little kid in the candy shop when I go into Zara and get to pull a brand new piece for my wardrobe and *gasp* sometimes two pieces. Shopping and having the money to shop isn’t a bad thing, but sometimes, people need to be real and relatable.

Want to know why I love re-wearing old pieces? Because I can make something great that looks new out of old pieces! I’ve used this Zara pinafore in old posts and this hat among many of my Instagram posts! Some pieces really do never go out of style and I love all of the ones that I use on a day to day basis. When I see a blogger take older pieces from their wardrobes, I feel as if I can relate to them, instead of just seeing how to pair a new Kenzo sweater with a new pair of True Religion jeans on every post.
Let the people know what your favorite pieces are and how much you truly love them! Overall, what I do have to say is use what you have and if you have the money to buy a new outfit for every blog post, power to you! I don’t and many people I know don’t. So try not to be surprised when you see me wearing this hat again!

I completely agree with you! I’m a college student as well, and I can never understand those who just go through clothes like tissues during a cold. I love to rewear my clothes, and find new ways to style them. It’s fun to make them fit the current styles, and to make them look different with just a few things. I like the outfit you got on! The ankle boots are probably my favorite part because that little detail at the side is so subtle yet pretty!

I totally agree, I often have to remind myself that I have certain pieces in my wardrobe that should be recycled into new outfits through layering! You look so fab and I adore those cute booties!

I completely agree! Basics will never go out of style. I like to invest in pieces I will wear over time and buy more affordable, trendy items on occasion to update my look. Love this outfit and it will always be in style! Xoxo, Christine

Fab outfit! I couldn’t agree more, you don’t need new things to make a new outfit. Mixing and matching a few timeless pieces will always be on point. Love your hat!!

Sweetie, THAT is so on point! Like two days ago when posting on Instagram I actually apologized for wearing the same sweater for like the 4th time… and to be honest, HOW crazy is that? Blogging has made me into one of those people who somewhat require me (not others) to wear something new for every post. It’s scary how much clothes I’ve got that I’ve only used once, and that only for a photo shoot! And now they’re in my closet. Unused. That’s not sane in any way and I’ll start taking advice from you and re-wear them in new fun outfit combos! 🙂 Thanks for a great post and reminder of what’s realistic!
xoxo

I will definitely agree that it can be a struggle on a tight budget to be a blogger and continue producing awesome content without re-wearing items. I’ve done the same as you, though, and I try to bring back older pieces once in a while, refreshed with some different accessories or layered in a new way. It can be fun to see the number of ways an item can be worn (and it shows you how useful that piece is in your closet, as well)! This is such a cute look, and I’m so glad you shared it!

Nice outfit. I love to layer. In University, I think I mostly layered a lot of basics for comfort. In the winter, the classrooms would be either hot or cold depending which building you were in so it was a huge neccessity. Classic, comfortable pieces really take you so far. 🙂 I also love ZARA. 🙂 They’re a great brand.

MikiI layer all the time at Uni!! It’s so bad, like right now I’m in a jumper and tank top, layering like there’s no tomorrow because I know my building is frigid, but outside is so hot!! Zara is one of my favorites!
Yasmin
I’m all about mixing old and new. I certainly don’t have the budget to always wear new things. But then again I do get enticed by new and shiny things haha. Love all the photos! You look so lovely.

Giiiirl I totally agree!! Aside from also being a college student, fashion is all about creative expression and working with anything to make it into something! I always say that there’s no need to have designer brand name clothes to be fashionable. If you can style old clothes or even cheap/vintage clothes and make it look amazing, who cares about the name? Keep it up 🙂

I completely agree and so glad you put this out there! It is expensive to turn around new content 4-5 times a week and i think part of being a great stylist is being able to create new looks with existing pieces. I constantly wear old mixed in with my new and find that I’m always so proud of myself for making the most out of that original investment.
Jordan Chapman
Lucy HernandezThat’s definitely the hardest part of being a blogger! I love what I do and it’s so much fun, so worth all of the date nights!
