Continuing on with my stays in London before I bring you my newest London roundup next week, let’s talk about the Hub by Premier Inn. As a hotel that opened in March, this was a new one for me to say in, but I regret nothing! From the moment I stepped into their lobby until when I got my passport back after leaving it in my room (with the help of their lovely staff), the Hub blew me away! Did you know you can control the room with your phone?
The Hub is an amazing hotel for someone who’s looking for a quick place to stay, or if you’re like me, just a place to be by yourself. I stayed in the standard room and didn’t feel cramped in the slightest over my 2 day stay! The hotel is perfectly located between 2 tube stations that are both within a 5-10 minute walk. Walking to the Liverpool Street station allows you to get a vibe for the area, taking you through Spitalfields Market over to the station. Walking to Aldgate East allows you to explore Commercial Street and the surrounding community, which has an amazing assortment of food and restaurants for anyone!
I was absolutely taken with this hotel the moment I stepped foot in it, as I said. You don’t have to wait to be checked in if you arrive after 12. You can check in on your own with one of their check-in machines. The lobby area leads into an amazing cafe area. There you can find breakfast and lunch foods to fill your stomach while you do some work. I spent a lot of time in my room. Outside of that, I got a fresh Costa coffee right after stepping off the elevator is a welcome way to start my morning.
Now let me share a little story to top off why this hotel is the best. I stayed at the Hub, the final 2 days of my trip, as you all saw on my vlog. So on the last day of my trip, I was up and ready to go early. That…is unnatural for me. I packed the night before, so when it came time for me to check out, I was ready. Then, I gave the room a quick once over and went outside to meet the taxi that I called.
I was on my merry way and all the way by Heathrow Airport when I checked I had everything in my backpack. My phone, keys, ID, wallet were all present, but my passport…missing. I freaked out, knowing I had it the day before. Then it dawned on me. I had placed it up on a shelf in the room, one that I had not checked.
Ironically, I see that it was in photos I took the day before. I remembered placing it up there, but never taking it down. Naturally, I freaked out. I got off the train, sent frantic tweets to the hotel. Then, I spent a long time on hold with their operator. It was a Sunday, so getting in touch was harder than normal. I finally got in touch with the hotel. They gave my passport to a courier who probably broke some laws to get me my passport.
It was a stressful day and I did end up missing my flight. I was alright overall because I knew that the Hub was doing whatever they could to help me destress. Their support team was amazing and acted quickly. The same that cannot be said for other places. They did the best they could. That’s something that will definitely bring me back on another stay with my passport safely tucked in my backpack at all times.
The Hub is a chain created by the Premier Inn, so you get to experience the popular chain, but in a brand new way! There’s a wide variety of rooms in the hotel. It’s perfect for someone like me who is on their phone 24/7 and wants to control the room temp with my phone (don’t fret Android users, this includes you too), the channel I’m watching, or just turning the lights off before I go to bed! If I visit London with friends, I’d definitely come back here and have us all get rooms at the Hub. It’s perfect for students, young travelers, and just people on a budget. Although the saying is “You pay for what you get,” here, you get more than what you pay for here!
If you want to check out the Hub by Premier Inn, head on over to their website and see why they’re so special! Rooms at the Hub by Premier Inn in Spitalfields begin at £47 per night with included wifi. The standard I stayed in begins at £47 per night. There are also many other options in London for various prices per night.
