Welcome to my F.A.Q. page! Here’s where you can find some of the answers to the other questions you may have! Enjoy x
Where are you from?
Atlanta, GA USA, but I was born in California!
What do you want to do in life?
I finished my degree in International Studies (International Relations) & Art History at Emory University in 2019, but I’m getting my Masters at King’s College London in 2021/2022. I’m very excited to continue the creative aspects of my life, but I do want to work in the sphere of the political/international relations because the work needs to be done. We need more people who look like me in it, and whether that means running for office, running a campaign, or just being a staffer in an office, I want to really do this work. I plan on doing both, continuing this blog life, while also working in politics, but we will see how this shapes up.
Why did you start blogging?
I started this blog 8 years ago as of 2021 and to be honest, I can’t entirely remember. At the time, I wanted to go to design school in NYC, but that was not the preferred choice. I believe that I started this blog to share my style, prove my interest in the fashion world, and just interact with more people. Now that I’m older, I relaunched the blog in order to help young women know they aren’t alone in this world, even when it seems like you’re on an island all by yourself.
What camera do you use?
Over the years I have accumulated more and more gear. I’ve got 3 camera bodies I use interchangeably. First is my newest, my 5D Mark III, then my Canon 70d, and my Olympus PEN. For my Canons, I use a 50mm 1.4 lens or the 28-135mm lens. On the Olympus, I use a 25mm or 45mm when I want to take photos or videos
Who takes your pictures?
I do credit my photographers in all posts, as well as on Instagram, but my main photographer is Hannah Lozano when I’m in Atlanta. I will also occasionally shoot my own photos, or work with other photographers when I travel! In London, Victoria Metaxas or Zoe Griffin take my photos!
Do you use any editing software? –
For typical edits, I use Lightroom presets that I make. If there are slight blips in the background, I use Photoshop or Snapseed to help clear up the background. For video, I use Premiere Pro. For graphics I use Illustrator. Safe to say most of my products are Adobe, but there are also a lot of apps I use.
What’s one piece of technology you can’t live without?
My phone! I finally managed to upgrade to the iPhone 11 Pro Max, so it’s like a tablet in my hand! The camera is amazing and with my phone, I can socialize with you all!
Pros of blogging life?
I have had some of the most amazing opportunities afforded to me because of blogging. I’ve met amazing people around the world, and wherever I go, I’m able to connect with new people and brands. It’s helped me refine my writing, and even taught me to pitch myself and network outside of the blogging sphere.
Cons of blogging life?
The balance. It’s a lot of late nights, but also a lot of scheduling and shifting to make sure the magic happens. Sometimes I have to work on posts when I want to socialize. This really is a full-time job, and I treat it as such. Tough choices happen, but they’re worth it.
Where do you shop?
In my older age, I try not to buy as much fast fashion, but I do try to support more Black-Owned businesses. While I do shop with brands like & Other Stories, ASOS, and Whistles, I am more conscious about what and who I buy. My recent favorites are Brandon Blackwood, The Lip Bar, and Legendary Rootz.
If you’re interested in what’s on my wishlist, I created Shop page where you can sift through my newest faves.
What should I do if I want to create a blog? –
Starting a blog is not supposed to be something that’s impossible. It should and is quite easy. I’ve written about it a few times and will again in more detail, but here are a few options up currently if you want to get started today.
Where can I find a way to get in touch?
Will you check out my blog?
Sure! Just leave me a link in a comment or in a tweet or something, and I will be sure to!!
What tools do you use to make your posts? –
Before I write, I make a list of all of the points that I want to hit in the post, then expand on those. For the photos, I use Photoshop, Lightroom, and Illustrator to edit if edits are needed.
