As a photography nut, I am very particular about my camera gear. I choose cameras that are great for shooting travel images or for client work. Sometimes bloggers need to be their own photographers! So here is a breakdown of what I use and the best photography equipment for bloggers! That flexibility is key to why I chose these camera bodies and lenses for my work. This isn’t just photography gear for bloggers, but for everyone! Whether you’re trying to get into photography, or just trying to find something new for product shots you don’t pay a photographer for, this is the post for you!
My Main: Canon 5D Mark III
This is a recent purchase from a friend and it is beautiful. I’ve been dying to have a full frame body for a long time now. It’s got great resolution and while it is heavy, it is perfect for shooting clients or weddings. I always love doing photography on the side for my business, and this is one of the key bodies I choose. I love the ability to save on a CF card or a SD card, creating backups just in case one card fails on me! The body is relatively heavy, so if you’re looking for something lightweight, this isn’t for you.
Canon 80D
I’ve had this camera body the longest and it’s my baby. This was the first camera body I upgraded to with my own money. It’s now my secondary body rather than my primary, but it still works really well, does great video content, and is light.
Lenses:
Canon 50mm 1.8
Most lists for photography gear for creators will include this lens. It’s just a beautiful default that can really get all the work done you need on a day to day basis. I use this for a lot of my work on smaller projects and when I need more detailed shots. It’s not a macro lens, but it is one that allows me to really get tight in on what I need to. It’s small, light, and fits into any of my bags for the most part.
Canon 16-35
This is one of my go to lenses when I don’t want to carry multiple around. It’s good for just about everyone. I can use it for personal shoots or client work and it definitely belongs on my list of the best photography equipment for bloggers.
Olympus Pen
This isn’t actually something I use for photography entirely, but is my vlogging camera from when I used to make Youtube videos! The camera is small enough to put into a clutch if I split the body and the lens, and takes really great quality photos and video. It’s a great little travel accessory if I don’t want to take my larger camera bodies with me. It also doesn’t attract a lot of attention and I can really make it work for any day.
Whether you’re a novice or experienced, I hope this helps. Finding good photography gear for creators is hard, but totally worth it when you find what works for you.
