7 reasons why short skirts are inappropriate. Considering how much I love fashion, this may come as a bit of a shock to everyone. Every time I go out to a function, people constantly scrutinize what I wear, whether it’s my parents, teachers, friends, colleagues, people I see in my life, etc. When I pull up to an event with a mini skirt, people love to say how inappropriate my attire is and right now, I can’t think of 7 reasons why short skirts are inappropriate. In fact, I have 7 great reasons why short skirts are perfectly fine, super cute, and perfect.

1. They’re great for beating the heat.

In Atlanta when temperatures average around 92 for most of the summer, a short skirt is an essential for me. I can’t live in this intense humidity and heat unless I’m wearing something breathable and for me, short skirts are just the best option for me. They don’t have to be super printed and for the most part, I’ll slip on a simple black skater skirt and call it a day. If I’m feeling up to a patterned day or colourful day, I’ll slip on an A-Line skirt that makes me explore the spectrum a little more.

2. It’s pretty effortless when it comes to styling.

When I say effortless, I really do mean effortless. In the summer, you can pair a mini skirt with a crop top, tee, or bodysuit to beat the heat. When the heat cools down (finally), tights, ankle boots, and a sweater will do the trick and it really doesn’t cost a lot to make a ton of outfits out of one thing.

3. They can be easily dressed up and down.

Mini skirts are a great day to night transitional item, so I can pull one on with tights, head to class or work, then at night, toss on a pair of heels and a nice top and head out to a party with my friends.

4. They are great for showing off the legs in the summer.

Myself, and probably half of the world spend all of March and April in the gym working out, doing our best to get in shape for the summer. With all of the running that I’ve been doing, my legs are more toned than before. Mini skirts are perfect for showing off all of the hard work that we have all put in and without a good mini skirt, I don’t think my summer wardrobe would be the same.

5. Short skirts are freaking empowering.

Who doesn’t love a mini skirt? For the 5th out of my 7 reasons why short skirts are great is because short skirts are for confidence. I don’t wear mini skirts to attract guys. I’m really focused on my future, so I don’t have time to mess around. I’m dressing for myself and because I know that I look good. My confidence skyrockets and I feel like a model on the runway when I wear a nice mini. I feel empowered when I wear my short skirts, and so should you.

6. You can move around so much easier than in jeans.

Although the flippy skirts may flop in the wind, the restrictions of jeans are no longer there. Jeans and shorts are restrictive, especially when I’m out and about trying to have some fun with friends. Skirts are an easy way to move around and with minis, although you may have to worry about the occasional flashing, moving is an easy part of life.

7. I can wear what I want, when I want, and love it.

Now this is the highlight of the 7 reasons why you should wear a short skirt and love doing it. Short skirts are a beautiful thing and so is your body. Love what you wear and know that what you wear looks beautiful on you. Wear clothes because you want to wear them, not because someone has told you to that it looks good or doesn’t. Wear what you want, when you want, and how you want. Channel your inner VS model and love how you look, because you, whoever you are reading this, you look freaking amazing.
